A.R.T TV

Smart. Inspiring. Out Of This World.

In the 1960’s NASA had a mission to get a man on the moon. Scientist George Land devised a creativity test that proved to be of exceptional accuracy in guiding NASA to find the most creative engineers and managers. Land used this test on a group of five-year-old children and found that 98% of the kids tested on the creative genius level. Ten years later, he tested this same group and found that students’ scores as geniuses had dropped to 12%. In testing over 280,000 adults, Land found only 2% of them rated as creative geniuses.

Land attributed these significant decreases in creative intelligence scoring to a systemic “de-genius-ing” of young people.

After 30 years of popular live theater productions and museum tours, Mat Bevel Company is proud to introduce A.R.T. TV, programs that spark the child-like creative genius in all of us!

Named for Mat Bevel Company President Ned Schaper’s Available Resource Technology (A.R.T.) philosophy and lifelong creative practices, we’ll soon be sharing the work of creative problem solvers from all walks of life who do more with less by using their imagination to tackle all kinds of challenges.

Shows will include:

A Junk Reality Show featuring a lifetime of theatrical work by artist and scientist Ned Schaper, creator of the magical world of Beveldom. Characters from this world dispense wisdom and whimsy on every topic imaginable. Content draws from 440 theatrical pieces from the Surrealistic Pop Science Theater. The Museum Of Kinetic Art is the set for the theater and TV show.

The Universe Within is an educational interview show hosted by Paula Schaper that explores various aspects of creativity with community leaders. Produced by Mat Bevel Company and shot on location, guests delve into the role that creativity has played in their work and personal lives. Tips and insights from community leaders will be integrated into The Universe Within world-building curriculum to teach students about peak performance, perseverance, grit and tenacity, resilience, managing fear, the role of non-conformity and many more topics.

Science In Art, hosted by Dr. Bruce Bayly, features segments with artists, scientists, makers and technologists who explain and demonstrate the science behind every art form imaginable. Dr. Bayly is a math professor at University of Arizona, known for making learning a fun experience.

The Creative Journey showcases stories of everyday people who remind us that we are all born creative, and encourage us to live each day fully and fearlessly.
